First we convert 11/2 to mixed number by dividing 11 by 2 and then adding the remainder as a half:

11 ÷ 2 = 5R1 = 5 1/2. Then we have 5 1/2 + 2. We add 5 + 2 = 7, and leave the 1/2 at the end: 7 1/2

If you c=want a decimal, 1/2 is .5 in decimal, so it becomes 7.5.
