18+(-22)+4+(-9)

= 18+ - 22 +4 + - 9

now if the  + or - signs are SO CLOSE together that you can put a circle around them without anything else in the circle then   

If the signs are the same replace them with a +

If the signs are different replace them with a    -

So the question becomes

18-22+4-9

Start at 18 on the number line.

Go 22 in the neg direction that will get you to -4

Now go 4 in the pos direction and that will get you to 0

then go 9 in the neg direction and that will get you to -9

I used GeoGebra :)

You can do a lot of things with GeoGebra but it is not very intuitive so I am still learning.

Like with most things, the more you know the easier it is to learn more. :)
