So here we'll solve this like this:

2 3/4 + 4 1/2 + 2 ( first we'll change these into simple fractions)

=11/4 + 9/2 + 2/1  ( now we have to get the same denominator)

=11x1/4x1 =11/4

=9x2/2 x2  = 18/4

=2x4/1x4 = 8/4

=11/4 + 18/4 + 8/4 (now simply add them all)

=37/4  (now we'll devide this)

=9.25 ANSWER

I should add that we can write this back as a "mixed" number, too....
