2^(4x-1)=7, what is x?

Oh, OK....this is a litttle different....

2^(4x-1)=7       take the log of each side

log 2 ^(4x - 1)   = log 7     and we can write

(4x - 1) log 2  = log 7        divide both sides by log 2

4x - 1   =  log 7 / log 2      add 1 to both sides

4x   =  (log 7 / log 2 ) + 1      divide both sides by 4

x = [( log 7 / log 2 )  +  1 ]  / 4   = about  .9518
