Yup, rosala is right, you have to remember your order of operations.

Here's the order of operations:

Parentheses

Exponets

Multiplication

Division

Addition

Subtraction

This is a saying people like to think of when doing the order of operations - "PEMDAS".

It basically says...

First you do anything in parenthesis.

Then you do anything with exponets.

Next you do either multiplication or division, based on the order it comes in the question.

Here's an example:

8*8 ÷ 4           ---First you do 8*8 because it comes first

64 ÷ 4             ---Now you divide 64 by 4.

After you do multiplication and division, you do addition and subtraction, based on the order they come in the question, just like multiplication and division.

So let's apply this to your question:

2+5*3-2           ---We have to do multiplication (5*3) before addition and subtraction based on the order of operations

2+15-2

17-2

15

There you go, hope this clears it up for you. :)

no your equation is wrong! We will solve this by using the DMAS rule which is Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction! So we have solved this according to this rule by following multiplication first , addition second and subtraction third!
