2x=1.5(x+6)
I know it equals 18, but how? Where did I go wrong?
2x=1.5(x+6) distribute the 1.5 across the terms in the parentheses
2x = 1.5x + 9 subtract 1.5x from both sides
.5x = 9 note that .5= 5/10 = 1/2
(1/2) x = 9 multiply both sides by 2
x = 18
And that's it !!!
2x=1.5(x+6) I know it equals 18, but how? Where did I go wrong ?
2x = 1.5 * ( x + 6 ) | * 2
4x = 3 * ( x + 6 )
4x = 3 * x + 3 * 6
4x = 3x + 18 | -3x
4x - 3x = 18
1x = 18
