I assume you might want to find the roots (zeros) of this??...if so, we have

2x^2 - 10x - 12 = 0 divide through by 2

x^2 - 5x - 6 = 0 factor

(x - 6) ( x + 1) = 0 and setting each factor to 0, we find that the roots are x = -1 and x = 6
