3 1/2 - 1 1/5 is pretty easy to figure out once you get the hang of it! First you need to get common denominators... What is the most common factor between 2 and 5 that would be..... 10! Here is an example of what to do

2x5=10 5x2=10 now do that to both sides so you end up with fractions like this:

 

3 5/10 - 1 2/10
