3(4-2x)-2x=3-8x I need help figuring this out

If I did this right;

3(4-2x)-2x=3-8x    Distribute 3 into (4-2x)

12-6x-2x=3-8x       Add 8x to each side.

12-6x+6x=3           -6x and 6x cancel out

12=3                     that should be the answer.
