3(x-1)(2x+1) - (x-2)2  Multiply the first set of bracketed terms to get

3(2x2 + x - 2x -1) - (x-2)2  = 3(2x2 - x -1) - (x-2)2 =  6x2 - 3x -3 - (x-2)2 Expand the second set of brackets to get

6x2 - 3x -3 - (x2-4x+4) = 6x2 - 3x -3 - x2 + 4x - 4  Collect like terms to get

5x2 +x -7
