$$\\3y^{1/3} -2=4\\\\ 3y^{1/3} =6\\\\ y^{1/3} =2\\\\ (y^{1/3})^3 =2^3\\\\ y=8$$
Mmm so you didn't really need to use logs but both our answers are good :)
3*y^(1/3) - 2 = 4
3*y^(1/3) = 4 + 2 = 6
y^(1/3) = 6 / 3 = 2
1/3 * Log(y) = Log(2)
Log(y) = Log(2) / (1/3) = Log(2) * 3
Log(y) = Log(2^3)
y = 2^3 = 8
