What is the area of triangle BCD to the nearest tenth of a square centimeter? Use special right triangles to help find the height

This is a 30-60-90 right triangle

 

The side opposite the 30 degree angle  = 5  = the base

The side opposite the 60 degree  =  sqrt(3)  *  the  side opposite the 30 degree angle  = 5*sqrt (3)....this is the height

 

So....tha area is   

 

(1/2)  base * height  = 

 

(1/2) 5  *  5sqrt(3)    =   

 

 ( sqrt (3) / 2) * 25  cm^2  ≈ 21.65 cm^2
