a 45 Seater bus is fully booked. Adult tickets are R375 and those of students, R200. If the total sales came to R9,875, how many students were on the bus?.
okay, this is what I did, but it is wrong:
let adults be "x" and students be "y"
So 375x + 200y = 9875
but x = 1,875y (375 / 200)
so 375x + 200y = 9875
375(1.875y) + 200y =9875
703,125y + 200y = 9875
903,125y=9875
y = 10.93 (11) students,
but it's wrong....where is my error, please guys, thank you all!
+1124 Don't worry, I have sorted it out finally:
It is:
Adults = x
Students = y
So x + y = 45
x = 45 - y....(1)
Adult tickets are R375 and Student Tickets are R200, which means that 375x + 200y = 9875....(2)
So then just sub (1) into (2) and do the sum.
Students are 40 and Adults are 5.
