How do I take a number to the 4th power My calculator wont go that high and I can't remember what I learned in school 11 years ago.

Just multiply the number by itself 4 times, for example;
4 to the 4th power becomes 4 x 4 x 4 x 4 = 256.
If this is too hard you can simplify by calculating in steps;
step 1: 4 x 4 x 4 x 4
step 2: 16 x 4 x 4
step 3: 62 x 4 = 256
