So we'll solve this like this ! First let me tell you as we are changing the places of the values there sign changes too!
So here we go!
$$4x + (-2)=11x+68$$
$$4x-2=11x+68$$
$$4x-11x=2+68$$
$$-7x=70$$ ( now we'll take -7 to the other side)
$$x=-7/70$$(now we'll simply just devide and then we'll get our answer)
$$x=-10$$ $$ANSWER$$
I hope uve understood by now and if not then please be free to ask!
I hope this helps!
Your answer has a little flaw in it rosala. :)
Where you went from
-7x = 70
to
x = 70/7
you dropped the minus sign.
So this should really be
x = 70/-7
and then
x = -10
Those minuses are tricky, always got to watch them.
But ninja ive been doing it like this only and the answer comes correct also!im confused!
Hmm.. that shouldn't be happening.
Let's put the two values of x in the original equation to check it.
Your answer:
4x+(-2)=11x+68
4(10)+(-2)=11(10)+68
40-2=110+68
38 ≠ 178
My answer:
4x+(-2)=11x+68
4(-10)+(-2)=11(-10)+68
(-40)+(-2)=(-110)+68
-42 = -42
Does this make sence? Tell me if it doesn't and I can try to explain it differently.
NinjaDevo ive just corrected my answer, i hope this time theres no silly mistake taking place!
But thanks for the correction once again!
Nice explanation, ND and a nice "Thank You" from rosala.......rosala, maybe you should send ND some roses, huh??
Points for a good answer and a good "Thank You"
Thanks for your nice suggestion and points CPhill!
NinjaDevo these flowers are for you for helping me!Thank you!
Hope you like 'em!
Thanks once again!
Thanks rosala.
I'm not much of a flower person myself, but that was pretty thoughtful. :)
Rosala, (and everyone) if you make a correction could you please mention this in the actual post that you corrected.
I read through these, I knew your answer was correct, then Ninja said it was wrong. It took me a while to work out that you had already corrected it.
You could have just added an aside (correction made - thanks Ninja) or something like so that I don't have to be so confused.
btw. I thought your solution was really good. It is very nicely presented!

Thanks Ninja, your work is always excellent.
