5 + 2(m -1)

You have to expand 2(m-1) first. and then add the 5 afterwards.  Can you do that?

Here is a similar question, you can copy the technique

3(x-5) = 3*x+3*-5 = 3x+ - 15 = 3x-15

If you get stuck then post your attempt :)

Is it:5 + 2(m -1) or 5 = 2(m -1)?

I believe it is 5=2(m-1) that you want. Did you try to solve it, and if so what happened? How would you multiply the right hand side? Once you get that right, then it should be very simple. The easiest way to go is to move all pure numbers to one side and leave the variable "m" on the other side. Just remember that when you move numbers from one side of the equation to the other, you must change the sign of + to - or vice versa. Let us see if you can come up with the right answer. Good luck.
