Mr. Frank has 1.08 kilograms of fertilizer for the plants in his nursery. He wants every plant to get 97 mg of fertilizer 3 times each year. What is the number of plants he could fertilize with that amount? How much fertilizer will he have left over?
1.08 kg is 1080 gm = 1,080,000 mg
each plant gets 97mg x 3 each year = 291mg
1080000/291 = 3711.34 or 3711 plants He will have enough fertilizer left over for .34 plants .34 x (291) = 98.94 mg left over
First you have to be careful about the different changes in measurement here.
To be on the safe side i converted everything to grams.
So:
1080 grams of fertiliser.
0.097*3=0.291
1080/0.291=3711.34...
So he can fertilise 3711 plants
