5x-6(x+2)=-3?

 

cant figure this out, please help :/

To start, distribute the -6 by multiplying -6 with both the x and 2.

-6*x + -6*2 = -6x - 12.

 

Now, we have 5x - 6x - 12 = -3.

 

Collect "like" terms:

5x - 6x = -x

 

-x - 12 = -3.

 

Add x to both sides and add 3 to both sides:

 

-9 = x

 

x = -9.
