Solve for x:
2 (6 x+4)-6 (6 x+3) = 38

-6 (6 x+3) = -18-36 x:
-18-36 x+2 (6 x+4) = 38

2 (6 x+4) = 12 x+8:
12 x+8-36 x-18 = 38

Grouping like terms, 12 x-36 x-18+8 = (12 x-36 x)+(8-18):
(12 x-36 x)+(8-18) = 38

12 x-36 x = -24 x:
-24 x+(8-18) = 38

8-18 = -10:

-10-24 x = 38

Answer:  x=-2

-6(6x+3)+2(6x+4)=38

-36x-18+12x+8=38

-24x=38+10

-24x=48

-x=2

x=-2

Just apply the rules of algebra.

\(-6(6x+3)+2(6x+4)=38\)

Expand the brackets by multiplying.

\(-36x-18+12x+8=38 \)

Add and subract the like terms together.

\(-24x=48 \)

Divide each side by -24.

\(x=-2 \)
