A pipe is a kind of cylinder. Volume of cylinder=Pi.r^2.L

8/2=4 inches, radius of pipe

V=3.141592653 X 4^2 X (85 X 12)

V=51,270.79 cubic inches, or

V=51,270.79/(12^3)

V=29.67 cubic feet-the amount of water it can hold.

I'm assuming that the 8 inches is the diameter....if so.....we have

V = pi (r^2) * h         in tis case   r = 4 in and h = 85 x 12 = 1020 in   ....  so we have

V = pi (4 in)^2 (1020 in)  = about 51270.79 cubic inches

cool cool cool
