A 4.9 "kilo" bag of sugar is on a counter. How much work is required to put the bag on a shelf a distance of 0.41 m above the counter?

 

Force needed = mass * acceleration = 4.9kg*9.8m/s^2 = 48.02kg m/s^2 = 48.02 Newtons

 

Work = F*d = 48.02*0.41 = 19.6882  kg m^2/s^2 = 19.6882 Newton metres = 19.6882 Joules

 

 

I think that is correct.
