A circle is inscribed in the ellipse with equation below. A diameter of the circle lies on the minor axis of the ellipse. Find the equation of the circle.
x^2+2y^2=32
x^2+y^2= ?
Answering this right is greatly appreciated, God Bless You.
We want the form of the ellipse to be x^2 / a^2 + y^2 / b^2 = 1
x^2 + 2y^2 = 32 divide through by 32
x^2 / 32 + y^2 / 16 = 1
b^2 = 16
b = 4 = semi-minor axis = the radius of the circle....so r^2 = 16
x^2 + y^2 = 16
