A coin is flipped 10 times, and at least 8 of the flips were heads. How many different sequences of flips could there have been?

We have  3 possibilities

All  10    were   heads =     only 1 way

9  were heads =  C (10,9)  = 10 ways

8 were heads  = C(10,8)  = 45 ways

So the total  number of possible sequences =   1 + 10  +  45   =   56
