A group of sheeps and chickens have a total of 99 feet and heads (counting together, i.e. it's *wrong* to say there are 99 feet and 99 heads, we only now the total amount of feet + heads). There are two times more chickens than sheeps. How many animals of each type (sheeps and chickens) are there in this group?

s = sheep,  c = chickens

5s + 3c = 99

c = 2s

Replace c in the first equation using the second:

5s + 3*2s = 99

11s = 99

s = 9

c = 2*9

c = 18

So, 9 sheep and 18 chickens

.
