In 2004, 50 out of every 100 drivers at the National Trucking Company passed their driver's license exam on their first try. In 2005, 62% of the drivers passed on their first attempt. What was the percent increase in the passing rate?

In 2004 the percentage was 50%. In 2005 the percentage was 62%. 62-50/50=12/50=24%.

so 50 out of 100 is 50/100=1/2=50% so since the other one is 62% we multiply them by 100 to get 62 and 62-50=12 so it is 12/(100/2)=12/50=6/25=24% so our final answer is 24%
