a piece of wood is 180cm long tom cuts it into pieces in the ratio 2 : 3 : 4 work out the length of the longest piece

The wood is split into.... 2 + 3 + 4 = 9 equal parts

So....the longest piece is (4/ 9)  of the total length

So (4/9) x 180  = 4 x 20  = 80 cm
