A quantity is decreased by 10%, find the decrease, as a percentage for x^2

Do you mean x is decreased by 10% and you want to know the decrease for x2?

 

If so xdecreased = 0.9*x  so  xdecreased2 = 0.92x2 = 0.81x2  

 

This means xdecreased2 is 81% of x2,  which means the decrease is 19%

.
