Area

length = 6 1/2 = 13/2

Height = 2 1/3 = 7/3

we need to find length * height = 13/2 * 7/3 = 91/6 = 15 1/6

Idk how you would have 10 1/2

I think the question may be worng.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "how to get 10 1/2 in"

To find the area, you want to multiply  6 1/2 * 2 1/3 = 13/2 * 7/3 = 91/6

To find the perimenter, you want to add  6 1/2 + 2 1/3 + 6 1/2 + 2 1/3 = 39/6 + 14/6 + 39/6 + 14/6 = 106/6 = 53/3

I hope this helped. :))

I'm sorry, I don't think I understand. :((

What are you looking for, like the area or perimeter?

Well my teacher said how she got the answer was I changed 6 1/2 to 6.5 and 2 1/3 to 2.3 then multiplied 6.5 x 2.3

2 1/3 does not equal 2.3

Please don't listen to your teacher.

2 1/3 = 2.3333333 (with infinite threes)

While you can estimate 2 1/3 as 2.3, it's not very accurate, especially if you're doing small scale things like this problem.

Well I emailed my teacher and she said

"You can also do 2.33 x 6.5.  Which would give you 15.15 rounded to the hundredths place. I rounded 2.33 to the nearest tenths place to get my answer.  2.3 x 6.5 = that is how I came up 14.9"
