A stretch of highway that is 12\dfrac1412 4 1 12, start fraction, 1, divided by, 4, end fraction miles long has speed limit signs every \dfrac78 8 7 start fraction, 7, divided by, 8, end fraction of a mile.

OK.....that didn't translate very well...

12 1/4 miles long (?)

signs every  7/8  mile (?)

(12 1/4 )/  (7/8) =   49/4  x  8/7  =  14        MIGHT be the answer....However it might be 15 if mile '0' has a sign posted and then there are signs every 7/8 maile thereafter....
