A triangle has side lengths in the ratio 3 : 4 : 5. If the perimeter of the triangle is 84 cm, what is the length of the shortest side?

3, 4 and 5 imply that 12 equal parts comprise  the 84cm

So, 3 i of those 12 parts = 

3/12 x 84  =

1/4 x 84  =

21 cm

 

For the second question, the fruit part is 3/4 of  the jam part....so...if  1 kg of fruit is used, then 3/4 kg of sugar is used.
