To find  the height, let  x =  0

So  2(0) +y  = 6

y  = 6  = the height  of the triangle

To  find the  base  let  y   = 0

2x + 0  =  6

2x  = 6

x= 3

Area =  (1/2) base * height   =  (1/2) (3) ( 6)  = (1/2) (18) =    9  sq units
