Step 2)  Place the answers into the expression:  r2 + s2.

Quadratic equation:  x  =  [ -b  +/-  sqrt( b2 - 4 · a · c ) ]  /  ( 2 · a )

 

In this case:  a = 3     b = 4     c = -12

I think the roots are 2-2sqrt10 and 2+2sqrt10
