-(y+3)=2 remove the bracket from the left hand side,

-y-3=2 move 3 from left side to the right side and change the sign from - to +

-y=2+3

-y=5 multiply both sides by -1(- X - = +)

y=-5

Our guest has shown you haopw to solve the equation and get the solution.

Once you do that you should also be able to substitute the solution back into the original equation and check that it makes the equation true.

 

-(y+3)=2                     check that y=-5 makes this true.

 

-(-5+3)

=-(-2)

=2

=right hand side.

 

therefore  y=-5 really is the correct solution.    :))
