A boy who is flying a kite lets out 500 feet of string which makes an angle of 45 degrees with the ground. Assuming that the string is stretched out and the boy is sitting on the ground, find to the nearest foot how high the kite is above the ground

Use sin(45°) = height/500

Rearrange to find the height (and note that sin(45°) is 1/sqrt(2))
