factor -16t^2+80t+96

OK......let's take out any greatest common factor, first.

This is -16.

So, we have

-16(t2 - 5t - 6)

Now, we need two numbers that multiply to the last term inside the parenthesis, (-6) and sum to the coefficient on the "t" term, (-5).

The first two that come to my mind would be -6 and +1. I think that's what we need.

So we have

-16(t - 6)(t + 1)
