think of the z as an x and factor it.

you want to factor z^2 -6z-27 ?

[input]z^2 -6z-27=0[/input]
zeros: {z=-3, z=9}

z^2 -6z-27 = (z--3)*(z-9) = (z+3)*(z-9)
