A science test has two parts. Part B has 4 more than part A. Rimshot missed one fifth of the questions in part A and one eighth of the questions in part B. If he missed 7 questions altogether, how many questions were on the test?

Let the number in Part A = x

Part B =x + 4

1/5x + 1/8(x + 4) =7, solve for x

x=20 in Part A

20+4=24 in Part B

20 + 24 =44 questions in Part A and B.
