Hello world once more. After midnight in Adelaide Australia.....Bed time.
3y=-1/2x+2 given. And y=-x+9 given
Lets find x.
Substitute that 'y' for (-x+9)
Get...3(-x+9) = -1/2x +2.......slightly messy but so is my kitchen at the moment......
Expand brackets.
-3x+27 = -1/2x+2. Oddball.
Shuffle things around more........
-2.5x = -25.........don't be thrown off by the half x. Move it over like normal. Add the half to both sides. Subtract 25 from both sides.
divide both sides by 3.5.
x=10
Yeeha again!
Just finished dinner with a pure maths PhD student, history PhD student, philosophy PhD student, and a poor medical student. All four on scholarships. I'm just an old engineer feeling rather feeble in such hallowed company. Cheers, Mark
