The roots of x^2 + 8x + 4 = 0 are the same as the roots of 2x^2 + Ax + B = 0. What is A + B?

We don't need to directly find the roots of the first equation.

We can multiply the first equation by 2 to get the second equation.

This yields: \(2x^2 + 16x + 8 = 0\) ,

so A + B = 24.
