A box contains orange balls and green balls. The number of green balls is eight more than two times the number of orange balls. If there are 59 balls altogether, then how many green balls and how many orange balls are there in the box?

First, let the Orange ****s be o and the green ****s be g.

Then:

g = 8 + 2o

8 + 2o + o = 59

3o = 51

o = 17

g = 8 + 2 * 17 = 8 + 34 = 42

So theres 17 Orange ****s and 42 Green ****s.

wink
