Given (14x + 22)/(x + 2) = -3x - 1, compute the sum of all the possible values of x. Express your answer as a fraction.

I don't think that there are any answers for x so the answer would be 0.

Hey there, Guest!

Step 1: Multiply both sides by x+2.

\(14x+22=−3x^2−7x−2\)

\(14x+22−(−3x^2−7x−2)=−3x^2−7x−2−(−3x^2−7x−2)\)

\(3x^2+21x+24=0\)

Quadratic Formula:

\(x=\frac{−b±√b2−4ac}{2a}\)

\(x=\frac{-7}{2}+\frac{1}{2}\sqrt{17}\)

And that's the answer.

Hope this helped! :)
