A father is 38 years old, his sons are 13 and 5 years old, and his daughter is 8 years old. In how many years will the father be the same age as his children put together?
Let X be the number of years
36 + X = (13 + X) + (5 + X) +(8 + X)
36 + X = 26 + 3X
36 – 26 = 3X – X
2X = 10
X = 5
.
Hey, I copied the problem wrong. Father is 38 not 36.
So it would be 38 – 26 = 3X – X
2X = 12
X = 6
Sorry for the previous error.
