As per guest, divide both sides of the equation by two to get :

 

x^2 - 8x + 16   = 0     factor (or use quadratic formula)

(x-4)(x-4) = 0       

so x = 4 and 4   (or just 4)

Hint, it will be easier to do if you divide every term by 2 to start with.
