If $t$ is a real number, what is the maximum possible value of the expression $-t^2 + 8t -4 +5t^2 - 4t + 18$?
Combining the like terms, we get \(4t^2+4t+14\).
Here's the thing though. The graph of this doesn't actually have a maximum. The parabola is facing upwards, meaning the maximum is infinite!
The value of t that would get us the minimum value would be -0.5!
Thanks! :)
