1) Write a simplified equation for the set of points that are equally far from (12, 0) as they are from (3, 0).

 

2) Write a simplified equation for the set of points that are exactly twice as far from (12, 0) as they are from (3, 0).

 

3) Given points A(2, 3), B(-1, 4), and C(-2, -2) determine point D so that the slope from A to B equals the slope from C to D, and the slope from B to C equals the slope from A to D.

 

I know the answer to numbers one and two, but I don't know how to write the equation and I don't know how to draw the parallelogram for number three.

For 1) and 2), the equation would be (most likely) in the form y = mx + b, unless the problem otherwise specifies so.

 

3) Slope of AB = rise/run = 1/-3

Slope of CD = rise/run = 1/-3 too... if C is (-2, -2), then D has to go up 1 and left 3 => (-5, -1)
