And the combined amount = 55 .....so.....
A + ( A + 15) = 55 simplify
2A + 15 = 55 subtract 15 from both sides
2A = 40 divide both sides by 2
A = 20
And A + 15 = 20 + 15 = 35
So...one has saved $20 and the other has saved $35
