can someone please explain how 4x-2(x+4) = 4x - 2x -8 = 2(x-4).... What happends to 4x in this equation?

You subract 4x - 2x.

You take away 2x from 4x so it is 2x

Also, at the end it is distributive property.

so it would be 4x-8
