One alloy contains nickel and zinc in ratio 6:1, while another alloy contains nickel and zinc in ratio 20:21. If you mix the two alloys in ratio 23:15, what is the ratio of nickel to zinc in your new alloy?

Please help :D

6/1 + 20/21 = 146/21combined ratio of nickel to zinc.

23/15 x 146/21 =3,358/315, so you have a ratio of:

3,358:315 ~ 10.66:1 New ratio of nickel to zinc.

This is on the assumption that the two alloys are mixed in equal amounts by weight.
