Hmmm... your image is from latex.artofproblemsolving.com
What does that suggest in terms of your academic honesty?
We can first find the slope of the hypothesis. Using y1 - y2 / x1 - x2, we can see that 2 - 6 / -6 - (-2) is -4 / -4, or 1. For the bottom point, we can subtract one to x and y twice, which gives us (-8,0). For the top point, we can add one to x and y twice, which gives us (0, 8). We now know the length of each side is 8. 8 * 8 / 2 is 64 / 2, or 32. Therefore, the answer to this question is 32.
@history, you posted while I was still typing up my answer.
Oh well, it should be encouraging to the OP that we corroborrated each other's answer.
Unlike Post #1 who I think is a troll who deliberately posts wrong answers because
she/he thinks that everyybody who asks for help here is cheating on their homework
and should be punished.

Find the number of square units in the area of the triangle.
Let's start by remembering that a straight line can be represented by y = mx + b,
where m stands for the slope of the line and b stands for the y-intercept.
We have two points on the line so let's use those. First, determine m.
Δy (6) – (2) 4
m = ––– = –––––––––– = ––– = 1
Δx (–2) – (–6) 4
Now we're getting somewhere. Let's use one of those points to determine b.
y = mx + b
2 = (1)(–6) + b
2 = –6 + b
b = 8
So, the formula for the line is y = x + 8
So, when x is 0, y is 8
and when y is 0, x is –8.
That makes each leg of the triangle 8 units long.
And it's a right triangle because the origin is a right angle.
Therefore, we can calculate the area as A = (1/2)(Base)(Height)
A = (1/2)(8)(8)
A = 32 square units

And would you look at that. Even in the face of clear evidence, homework cheater helpers still give the answers to obviously cheated questions; probably to boost their ego through imaginary internet points. Well, it was worth a shot.
Honestly, who cares about homework cheaters? They are just hurting themselves.
You are wasting your own time by answering their questions. I think you care about yourself.
Well, if I didn't care about myself I'd be a loser. That's a valid hypothesis, but incorrect. I'm spending only a few seconds answering these questions in order to increase my public perception in the eye of my subjects. I'm actually gaining time and power by answering these questions.

Maybe you'd get more satisfaction by commenting on things you actually know something about, if anything fits that description. To the contrary, solving problems here is a humbling experience for me, when I see the number of math problems that I not only (1) don't know how to solve, but also (2) don't even recognize some of the math terminology they use.
Some of these probably are students bringing their homework here. But even if I do solve a problem for them, if somebody hadn't shown them, then they wouldn't have seen how to do it at all. It's to their own advantage to try to learn something from the responders' efforts. Responders who try to help, that is; not responders like the scolds hiding behind "Guest" postings who imagine themselves the self-appointed conscience of the site.

@Hairyweirdo We are not your subjects. Your self-proclaimed titles are invalid and have no effect on reality. Your screenshot sounds like a projection of your own reality.
To rude guest: please stop! This is getting out of hand!
By the way Bosco (and anyone else interested) this question (https://web2.0calc.com/questions/interesting-question_7) is actually quite interesting and I would like to see it solved. Do any of you guys have ideas.
I took a look at it. Yeah, I remember that problem. I can't solve it. Sorry, wish I could help.

Nice. You seemed like a jerk at the start, and you now seem nice. You seem like ChatGPT xD.

tastybanana Can you please stfu? He is trying to be nice and you're disrespecting him!
You all know tastybanana is my first and most longtime friend I have. What you may not know is that he’s also the first and most longtime customer of ProActive Acne Systems.
Good lord this is an ugly group of people. Holy s**t, you know the crowd is ugly when we invited tastybanana as eye candy.
And tastybanana you’re looking pretty rough this evening. tastybanana looks like if sweatpants were a person.
Getting married to you must’ve been rough. What was your wedding song? “How Much Is That Doggy In The Window?”
tastybanana is so ugly he’s been the only one ever rejected from Q***r Eye for the Straight guy.
tastybanana is so ugly in October when he went to the haunted house they handed his an application.
tastybanana’s psychiatrist said he was crazy and he said he wanted a second opinion. The psychiatrist said “Okay, you're ugly too.”
tastybanana’s nose is so big he Apple had to make a custom iPhone that unlocks using Nose ID.
It seems to me like your only two brain cells are fighting for dominance.
