A guy wire is attached to the top of a 75 foot tower meets the ground at a 65 degrees angle. How long is the wire?
The wire is the hypotenuse and the tower and the ground are the 'legs' of a right triangle....
remember SOHCAHTOA Sin x = Opposite/Hypotenuse ?
opposite = tower = 75 x = 65 degrees
so the sin 65 = 75/hypotenuse
re-arranging: Hypotenuse = 75 / sin65 = 82.75 ft
